Review : Your Beauty Mark by Dita Von Teese The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour

Your Beauty Mark by Dita Von Teese The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour was released late last year. I actually got it for Christmas (by my request) and I just had to share my thoughts.

The book is quite large. Here it is with a Birchbox for scale.

This is what it looks like under the dust jacket.

The book covers many topics. The contents page gives you a rough outline but there is much more in the pages. So many topics are covered there is even an index at the end.

If you are a fan of Dita's (which most people who buy the book probably are) you will definitely appreciate the many photographs of her throughout the pages. They complement each chapter as well as add inspiring illustration to the words. I love keeping this book in my beauty room and pouring through the pages when I want to feel inspired and motivated for my beauty routine.

There are many tutorials covering everything from fitness to hair and makeup.

There are also experts consulted and interviewed throughout the book.

I enjoyed the personal details about herself like a friend sharing advice and stories with you.

Even beginners can learn from this book. Basic details are provided throughout like this image of different brushes and combs:

A reoccurring theme is how beauty is not one size or type or style. There are people profiled who are uniquely beautiful and glamorous in their own way. Have fun and experiment. The way you look can change your attitude and the way you feel.

This is only the second beauty book I own. So I don't have much to compare it to as far as that goes. But I can surely recommend it to a Dita fan. I think that is how these books are (celebrity beauty guides), they are firstly for the people that want the authors secrets and tips.

Here is my other beauty book. It's by Jaclyn smith and was released in 1984.

She covers many of the same topics including diet and exercise.

Look at these pictures, so 80's. Legwarmers!

Also included guides.

The book is older than me but still offers useful advice.

No matter the decade we still want to look beautiful!

Hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know if there are any beauty books you like worth checking out!

  1. I really want to read Dita's book--I'm a big fan! I didn't know it was this big but considering it is, that would mean it'd end up on my coffee table after I've studied it :)
